This is a brand that’s been around for 86 years, since 1932. They’re all about quality and technology.
So what they’ve done with Breville Stainless Steel 1800W Smart Grill is they put a beautiful brushed stainless steel on the outside so it’s going to go with any kitchen, no matter what your kitchen decor is.
You get two grill plates, you’re getting one grill and one flat. You can mix and match, you can do one grill or you can do one flat. You can do whatever you want.
But here’s what I love about this too. As you press a button on the side, pull it up and it actually goes down to a griddle. That gives you 260 square inches of cooking. Isn’t that awesome?
So if you want to use it as an open grill, you’re going to double your grilling capacity. This is going to be 260 square inches when it’s down flat.
The heating elements are embedded in the plates, so you’re getting that wonderful, even cooking all the time. Since the heat is transferred directly to the plates, this means that less time is needed to heat up the grill and less time to recover from heat loss.
These are cast aluminum, nonstick plates, they actually do go in the dishwasher as well as lovely drip tray, but they clean up so beautifully you might just want to use a soap and a sponge. The drip tray is really large and it actually holds up to two cups worth of liquid.
There are two buttons There is the plate release for your top plate and then down at the bottom you have another plate release and when you push that little button, that plate just pops right up.
You have an ON button and it goes anywhere from 320 – 450 degrees. It’s low panini and sear and you can do anything in between. It’s big large LCD screen so you don’t have to worry about getting your readers.
There is also another large button and this is the timer. You just turn that once for a minute and then just keep turning it and it’s going to add time for you. You pres that button and it starts to countdown.
Then we have a small Fahrenheit or Celsius button, just in case you’re doing something that calls for a recipe in Celsius.
If you want a great grill that is going to be a panini press, that’s going to be a contact grill, that’s going to be a griddle or an open grill that you can use indoors, even when it’s raining outside, this is the one you want.
You can cook from frozen because of that great contact grill, you are cooking top and bottom. When any fats and oils are released they’ll collect in that big drip tray.
There’s a dial on the side that I can raise if I’m doing eggs or something or I can lower it so that all that fat and grease is going to go right into a channel. How awesome is that!
Once you grill with your Breville smart grill, you won’t want to grill with anything else. It’s so quick and so easy and so convenient. And I love their attention to detail. It’s just absolutely amazing.
I didn’t tell you that this has element IQ and what that means is if your grill starts to cool, it senses it and it automatically turns the heat up so that you’re getting that same temperature whatever you set it for.
The floating hinge has six adjustable height settings. This allows you to change the amount of weight that is applied to your food. This helps you avoid squishing some types of meals. However, keep in mind that the top plate is still heavy so it can smash some delicate meats.
The Breville Smart Grill has a raised surface to keep heat off the counter. Although it has a clamshell design, it can produce long-distance splatter on the counter.
It cooks foods fast. According to the manual, most foods should be done in less than 10 minutes. It can grill a frozen hamburger patty in under four minutes.
One of the minor disadvantages about this model is that if you want to create grill marks on both sides of your meat, you must flip it because one plate is flat griddle, for eggs or pancakes, and another plate is a ribbed grill, for meat and vegetables.
