Rob Rainford, chef and author of “Born to Gill” explains how to cook beef, pork, chicken, fish and vegetables using T-fal OptiGrill.
You can read full review of this grill here: best indoor electric grill.
Today I’m going to be showing you how to cook beef to perfection using OptiGrill by T-fal. Wonderful grill. This actually tells you when the meat is at the perfection you are looking for: rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, well done.
Take a look at this. We turn it on, we select meat, and we select OK.
This intelligent grill basically has six settings. When this comes to temperature, it will beep and tell me that I’m ready to go on to the grill.
But there is a little beautiful dial right here that if you look at it, it’ll tell you exactly when you reach rare, medium rare.
Let’s get a little dry rub going for our beef and I’ve got two cuts of meat here: I’ve got ribeye and I got strip loi. Either one are great grilling steaks.
But let’s get a little dry rub going.
Little Montreal steak spice, some chilies, just a little extra salt, some pepper, just grind it nicely, and then we gonna get this. A little coating, olive oil, on top, rub that in, make sure you get both sides.
Now just seasoned this up liberally. This is looking so good and smelling even better right now. Both sides.
Once we come to temperature, we get our steaks on.
Beautiful sizzle, close the lid, and this gonna cook to perfection.
All we have to do now is just wait for the perfect setting, for me that’s medium rare and as soon as I see it right in this section, it’ll be done to perfection.
So, for finishing steak, all we need to do at this point is allow to rest, 10 minutes tented with a little bit foil allows all those juices to just stay within naturally on.
Number two. Don’t pierce the meat with any type of fork because all the juices tend to run out at that point.
So just let this relax and you are looking at beautifully cooked to perfection steaks.
Today I’m going to show you how to cook a pork tenderloin.
This is going to be a full proof way to make sure that’s nice and juicy by using T-fal OptiGrill.
Today I’m going to use a little dry rub consisting of little jerk paste or jerk powder, with a little bit of olive oil because I want to create a nice little paste that’s gonna fit right on top of our pork tenderloin.
So move this around and create a nice little paste.
What we need to do right now is get all this paste right on our jerk. But before we do that, let’s turn on our grill.
Today I’m going to be using OptiGrill by T-fal. This is a wonderful little invention because it actually recognizes the size and shape of the pork and it’ll cook it to perfection.
Let’s turn on our grill.
Select on, go down, select pork.
This intelligent grill basically has six settings.
Now all I have to do is wait for this to beep at me and then I can get my pork tenderloin on.
I have my dry rub here, which I’ve now created a nice little paste and I’m going spoon this right over top.
A quick little marinade on our pork tenderloin will infuse beautiful flavor right into the meat itself.
Smells fantastic already.
Let this sit with this paste right on top, which is beautiful little jerk marinade.
So while the pork is just sitting here marinading at this pint, and allow all this flavors to set up, lets get a nice little salsa going.
I have some mango, some peppers, some celery, some green onions, and a little cilantro.
I’m just going to combine these together. Got to season this up, a little salt, some oil, touch of honey, purple Somek, and little fresh lime juice.
While this sits and marries and gets flavorful together at this point, my T-fal is almost ready to be cooked on.
Temperature is looking good. I heard my beep, time to get pork on.
So pork tenderloin directly onto the grill. Close it down.
This takes all the guesswork out of cooking because T-fal now recognizes the size and the shape and it will just cook this to perfection.
All we are waiting now is for it to get to temperature and cook all the way through.
Once the OptiGrill beeps and it tells you it’s done, this is the finished product.
Today I’m gonna be using the new OptiGrill by T-fal, the first intelligent grill that takes the guesswork out of grilling. This grill is a godsend. I love it personally only because it senses the size and the thickness of the food.
Today I’m gonna be using a little chicken. Chicken can tend to be a little dry but in order to create more moisture, I’m gonna use a little brine, water, sugar, salt, pop that into the fridge and just allow that to get even more moist.
But first we’ve got to turn on the grill. This intelligent grill basically has six settings.
Today I’m going to be using the poultry setting. So I’ve turned it on, I’ve selected the poultry and I hit OK.
As soon as this is up to temperature, this is gonna beep at me and it’s gonna tell me exactly when to put my food on. That’s great!
Now we got to season our chicken a little bit. Using a little bit of Montreal smoked spice, some chilies, a little bit of salt, some pepper and just turn that over cause you got to get both sides. Do that again one more time.
There are the beeps. It’s telling me exactly that we’re ready to put the food on right now.
So we’ve seasoned it up, open up our grill, put one breast on, put the second breast on, close the lid and this intelligent grill will tell me exactly when it’s ready to come off with another series of beeps.
Takes all the guesswork out of cooking.
In five minutes you are gonna get perfectly cooked chicken.
Cooking Fish on the Grill
I’m going to be using the OptiGrill by T-fal today. The first intelligent grill to take the guesswork out of grilling.
Today we’re going to be using a little bit of fish. Now, all fish are not created equal. Some are light and flaky, some are dense. Really important that you know what kind of fish that you’re using.
This intelligent grill basically has six settings. Let’s just give it a quick turn on. Select fish, OK. As soon as this baby beeps at me, then I know I’m ready to start cooking.
But before I do that, lets get a little marinate for this. I’ve got some salt, a little olive oil, some pureed garlic and a little vinegar.
I’m just going to mix this around a little bit because I just want to coat my fish just before I get it on to the grill. So in order to marinate this fish and it’s a nice little tilapia, we’re going to pour a little bit of that olive oil and garlic mixture over top. Just make sure you coat it all nicely. Flip it over, because you want to get both sides and and season it up a touch.
A little bit of salt, a little bit of pepper, get both sides, again a little bit of pepper, a little bit of salt.
So in order to put my fish on, I’ve gotta wait for the OptiGrill to come to temperature and it’ll beep at me to tell me exactly when to do that.
So she’s ready. Lift up, put this on, make sure you have enough space in between, close the grill and when this beeps it will have this fish cook to perfection.
So while the tilapia is cooking, we’re just going to get a few more ingredients in just for the topping.
I’ve got some diced tomatoes, got some olives, which I’ll just roughly chop a little bit more. Get these in, a little parsley, more of that olive oil, little lemon juice, little zest. Just mix this around, season this up again, a little bit of salt, little pepper and this will be a wonderful little topping for the tilapia.
I’m going to show you how to use OptiGrill by T-fal and show you how to cook vegetable the easiest way possible.
Today I’m going to use a little tofu and some vegetables and I’m going to use this grill to cook to perfection.
Let’s give this a quick turn on, go straight to manual, OK. This intelligent grill basically has six settings.
Once this grill heats up, I’ll get all these vegetable together, put them on the grill, and we gonna be eating wonderful veg.
We need a nice little marinade. I got some sun dry tomatoes, a little Somek, and just gonna mush this around a little bit to make a bit of paste cause we gonna coat all our vegetables right in this.
So we take our vegetables now, zucchini, some peppers, some cherry tomatoes, tofu, and make these guys around. It’s this simple.
Use a little bit of salt, get some green onions, little cilantro, a little bit of basil, little pepper, and some skewers. Just simply tread these guys through, get tofu, get our tomatoes, peppers, just repeat the process one more time.
Create one more. It doesn’t mater the order that you put them on.
What I love about these recipes is that it’s nice and easy and fresh. Reminds me of summer time.
This recipe is so easy that you can interchange anything that you like. You can take the tofu out and put other vegetables in. Anything that you like goes into this skewer.
Lets open our grill, get this right on, close the lid, and in no time at all, you’ve got yourself a nice, interesting, beautifully grilled veg.
